Atlanta woman arrested for identity theft
March 13 2025
AUBURN, Ala. – On March 11, 2025, Auburn Police, with assistance from the Atlanta Police Department, arrested Mary Elizabeth Weaver, age 39, from Atlanta, Georgia, on a felony warrant charging her with identity theft.
The arrest stems from the Auburn Police Department receiving a report involving a forged check on July 29, 2024. The victim reported that a check was mailed to the intended recipient from a location in Auburn in June 2024. While in transit, the check was stolen and altered. The forged check was then used in a transaction at a bank located in another police jurisdiction.
Mary Elizabeth Weaver was developed as a suspect. After further investigation, an arrest warrant for identity theft was obtained. The warrant remained outstanding until Weaver was located by the Atlanta Police Department in Feb. 2025. Weaver was arrested in obedience to the outstanding warrant.
After waiving extradition, Weaver was transported to the Auburn Police Department on March 11, 2025, and the arrest warrant was executed. Weaver was then transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $5,000 bond.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
